Windstar’s luxury yachts to get extensive upgrades…

Posted on 28 September 2011

The Wind Spirit is 439 feet long (including bowsprit) and has a beam of 52 feet.

Windstar Cruises will invest $18 million over the next year-and-a-half to refurbish its three luxury sailing ships, the most extensive upgrade in the luxury line’s history.

The ships will get new furniture, upholstery, art, lighting, wall coverings, carpeting, ceiling finishes, window treatments and floor coverings. The furnishings will be in keeping with the line’s private yacht theme.

The project will kick off in November with the Wind Surf, upgrading staterooms, suites and the boardwalk on the main deck. It will all wrap up in time for its Dec. 11 Caribbean sailing. The following fall, work will focus on the yacht’s public spaces, including restaurants and lounges.

Wind Star and Wind Spirit will undergo complete refurbishments of staterooms and corridors along with public spaces following their respective Costa Rica and Caribbean seasons this winter and early spring. After the completion of work, both yachts will begin Mediterranean sailings in April.
