Princess Cruises fans will be able to Zumba at sea this year, with the line rolling out the fitness classes to every ship in its fleet, where passengers will Zumba in the nightclubs, the atriums, and on the open decks.

Zumba Fitness, which its creators describe as a dance-fitness program that blends “red-hot international music” and “contagious steps,” has swept the fitness nation and is already being offered on some cruises, often for a fee.

Princess said that by 2012, every one of its vessels will offer the class once or twice per cruise, free of charge, in venues such as Club Fusion, the Piazza or on the outside deck, adjacent to Movies Under the Stars jumbo screen.

After a soft rollout on select ships last December, Princess said the classes quickly became among the most popular activities on board. Additional staff members will complete the training to become licensed Zumba instructors as the program expands fleetwide, Princess said.

“Our onboard Zumba classes are always packed, and consistently receive positive feedback from passengers who are happy to have the opportunity to try something they’ve been hearing about, or to continue with the program they have at home,” said Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises executive vice president, in a statement.

Zumba classes are currently offered aboard on the Caribbean Princess, Dawn Princess, Diamond Princess, Emerald Princess, Grand Princess, Golden Princess, Island Princess, Ruby Princess, Sapphire Princess, Sea Princess and Star Princess. The program is expected to be available fleetwide before the end of the year
