Princess Cruises on Thursday announced a makeover for the Italian restaurants on its ships.
The line says the Sabatini’s eateries found on 13 of its 16 vessels will switch to an a la carte experience where diners pick each of their courses instead of the family-style format under which they have operated for years.
Princess says it has designed a new menu for the restaurants, which will continue to focus on traditional Italian dishes made to order. The line says antipasti choices will include hand-formed cow’s milk burrata cheese with a creamy lava center on tomato carpaccio; and crisp buttermilk soft shell crab over baby arugula. Main courses will include duck with fava beans and pancetta; and baked striped bass in a herbed salt crust. Desserts will include raspberry frangipane tart with macerated wild berries; and an almond, hazelnut and pecan Napoleon with praline mousse and caramel pecan brittle.
The first Sabatini’s debuted in 1998 on the 2,600-passenger Grand Princess, and the restaurant has become an icon of the brand. Princess says passenger feedback prompted the change.
The revamped Sabatini’s eateries will cost $20 per person for adults and $10 for children under age 12
