Norwegian Cruise Line today rolled out a sweetened upgrade offer on Alaska cruises.

The line says that as part of its ongoing “Norwegians Take it to the Next Level” sales event, customers making new Alaska bookings starting today through Feb. 19 will receive a minisuite for the price of a balcony cabin; a balcony cabin for the price of an ocean-view cabin; or an ocean-view cabin for the price of an inside cabin. In recent weeks, the promotion has included free upgrades on Alaska sailings but only between cabins within the same general category (for example, a balcony cabin to a better balcony cabin).

Norwegian also is cutting the deposit it requires from customers who want to hold a cabin in Alaska by half, also through Feb. 19.

Norwegian will have two of its 11 ships in Alaska this summer, the 2,394-passenger Norwegian Pearl and the 2,376-passenger Norwegian Jewel. It’s the first time the line has sent two of its newer “Jewel class” ships to the region at the same time.

Both of Norwegian’s ships in the region will spend most of the season operating seven-night itineraries out of Seattle that include calls in Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway, Alaska; and Victoria, British Columbia. Departing on Saturdays, the Norwegian Jewel itinerary also includes a stop at Alaska’s Sawyer Glacier. Departing on Sundays, the Norwegian Pearl itinerary includes a visit to Alaska’s famed Glacier Bay.
