It’s Danny Meyer’s Eleven Madison Park in New York, according to the prestigious James Beard Foundation, which dished out its awards Monday.


The innovative restaurant menu lists only ingredients, such as hamachi fish, lemon, chocolate and foie gras, and invites guests to share in the creation of dishes by stating their preferences for other ingredients. Owner Meyer has called it “a four-star restaurant for the future,” according to an Associated Press report.


The Beard awards, considered the Oscars of the culinary world, crowned Washington, D.C.’s Jose Andres the nation’s outstanding chef of the year, especially citing his work at the innovative, intimate minibar by Jose Andres in Washington, D.C. Spanish-born Andres is famed forcreative tapas and other small plates served at his restaurants, including Jaleo in D.C., Bethesda, Md. and now at the new Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas resort. Other Andres eateries include The Bazaar by Jose Andres at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, Oyamel and Zaytinya in Washington. This is a chef on the move: Here’s a listing of his eateries.


Andres bested Gary Danko of Restaurant Gary Danko in San Francisco; Suzanne Goin of Lucques in Los Angeles;Paul Kahan of Blackbird in Chicago; and Charles Phan of The Slanted Door in San Francisco.


Best new restaurant: Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s ABC Kitchen in New York, which puts emphasis on local, organic foods. Rising star chef of the year: Gabriel Rucker of Le Pigeon in Portland, Ore.
