AMR TO CHARGE EXTRA FOR FIRST 2 ROWS OF COACH…

Posted on 23 August 2010

American Airlines has begun charging extra for the first two rows in coach behind the bulkhead that separates the coach section from first-class. Effective immediately, passengers will have to pay $19 to$39 extra to be seated in the first two rows of coach, including the bulkhead, in American’s latest move to generate extra revenue apart from tickets. Passengers who buy Express Seats gain the convenience of being among the first passengers in coach to board and depart the plane, American said. Express Seats are available only at airport self-service check-in machines from 24 hours to 50 minutes before scheduled departure. The seats aren’t available online.
